Add panel replay selective update support to debugfs status interface. In
case of sink supporting panel replay we will print out:

Sink support: PSR = no, Panel Replay = yes, Panel Replay Selective Update = yes

Ville Syrjälä 94501c3ca6 drm/i915/psr: Only allow PSR in LPSP mode on HSW non-ULT
On HSW non-ULT (or at least on Dell Latitude E6540) external displays
start to flicker when we enable PSR on the eDP. We observe a much higher
SR and PC6 residency than should be possible with an external display,
and indeen much higher than what we observe with eDP disabled and
only the external display enabled. Looks like the hardware is somehow
ignoring the fact that the external display is active during PSR.

I wasn't able to redproduce this on my HSW ULT machine, or BDW.
So either there's something specific about this particular laptop
(eg. some unknown firmware thing) or the issue is limited to just
non-ULT HSW systems. All known registers that could affect this
look perfectly reasonable on the affected machine.

As a workaround let's unmask the LPSP event to prevent PSR entry
except while in LPSP mode (only pipe A + eDP active). This
will prevent PSR entry entirely when multiple pipes are active.
The one slight downside is that we now also prevent PSR entry
when driving eDP with pipe B or C, but I think that's a reasonable
tradeoff to avoid having to implement a more complex workaround.

Imre Deak 9b0b61c5bc drm/i915/dp: Fix the PSR debugfs entries wrt. MST connectors
MST connectors don't have a static attached encoder, as their encoder
can change depending on the pipe they use; so the encoder for an MST
connector can't be retrieved using intel_dp_attached_encoder() (which
may return NULL for MST). Most of the PSR debugfs entries depend on a
static connector -> encoder mapping which is only true for eDP and SST
DP connectors and not for MST. These debugfs entries were enabled for
MST connectors as well recently to provide PR information for them, but
handling MST connectors needs more changes.

Fix this by not adding for now the PSR entries on MST connectors. To

Ville Syrjälä 4d2391a0dd drm/i915/psr: Do no mask display register writes on hsw/bdw
hsw/bdw lack the pipe register vs. display register distinction
in their PSR masking capabilities. So to keep our CURSURFLIVE
tricks working we need to just unmask all display register writes
on these platforms. The downside being that any display regitster
(eg. even SWF regs) will cause a PSR exit.

Note that WaMaskMMIOWriteForPSR asks us to mask this on bdw, but
that won't work since we need those CURSURFLIVE tricks. Observations
on actual hardware show that this causes one extra PSR exit ~every
10 seconds, which is pretty much irrelevant. I suspect this is
due to the pcode poking at IPS_CTL. Disabling IPS does not stop it
however, so either I'm wrong or pcode pokes at the register
regardless of whether it's actually trying to enable/disable IPS.
Also when the machine is busy (eg. just running 'find /') these
extra PSR exits cease, which again points at pcode or some other
PM entity as being the culprit.

Ville Syrjälä 76ec692721 drm/i915: Flag purely internal commits to not clear crtc_state->inherited
If we have to force the hardware to go through a full modeset
due to eg. cdclk reprogramming, we need to preserve
crtc_state->inherited for all crtcs that have not otherwise
gone through the whole compute_config() stuff after connectors
have been detected.

Otherwise eg. cdclk induced modeset glk_force_audio_cdclk()
will clear the inherited flag, and thus the first real commit
coming from userspace later on will not be forced through
the full .compute_config() path and so eg. audio state may
not get properly recomputed.

But instead of adding all kinds of ad-hoc crtc_state->inherited
preservation hacks all over, let's change things so that we
only clear it for the crtcs directly included in userspace/client
initiated commits.

Should be far less fragile since now we just need to remember
to flag the internal commits, and not worry about where new
crtcs might get pulled in.

Jouni Högander 084aab04cc drm/i915/psr: Add continuous full frame bit together with single
Currently we are observing occasionally display flickering or complete
freeze. This is narrowed down to be caused by single full frame update
(SFF).

SFF bit after it's written gets cleared by HW in subsequent vblank
i.e. when the update is sent to the panel. SFF bit is required to be
written together with partial frame update (PFU) bit. After the SFF
bit gets cleared by the HW psr2 man trk ctl register still contains
PFU bit. If there is subsequent update for any reason we will end up
having selective update/fetch configuration where start line is 0 and
end line is 0. Also selective fetch configuration for the planes is
not properly performed. This seems to be causing problems with some
panels.

Using CFF without SFF doesn't work either because it may happen that
psr2 man track ctl register is overwritten by next update before
vblank triggers sending the update. This is causing problems to
psr_invalidate/flush. Using CFF and SFF together solves the problems
as SFF is cleared only by HW in subsequent vblank and the update gets
sent.

Fix the flickering/freeze issue by keeping CFF bit as set when PSR2 is
enabled unless there is a properly configured selective update via
atomic commit.

Jani Nikula 801543b259 drm/i915: stop including i915_irq.h from i915_trace.h
Turns out many of the files that need i915_reg.h get it implicitly via
{display/intel_de.h, gt/intel_context.h} -> i915_trace.h -> i915_irq.h
-> i915_reg.h. Since i915_trace.h doesn't actually need i915_irq.h,
makes sense to drop it, but that requires adding quite a few new
includes all over the place.

Prefer including i915_reg.h where needed instead of adding another
implicit include, because eventually we'll want to split up i915_reg.h
and only include the specific registers at each place.

Also some places actually needed i915_irq.h too.

Jouni Högander d755f89220 drm/i915/psr: Send update also on invalidate
Currently we are observing mouse cursor stuttering when using
xrandr --scaling=1.2x1.2. X scaling/transformation seems to be
doing fronbuffer rendering. When moving mouse cursor X seems to
perform several invalidates and only one DirtyFB. I.e. it seems
to be assuming updates are sent to panel while drawing is done.

Earlier we were disabling PSR in frontbuffer invalidate call back
(when drawing in X started). PSR was re-enabled in frontbuffer
flush callback (dirtyfb ioctl). This was working fine with X
scaling/transformation. Now we are just enabling continuous full
frame (cff) in PSR invalidate callback. Enabling cff doesn't
trigger any updates. It just configures PSR to send full frame
when updates are sent. I.e. there are no updates on screen before
PSR flush callback is made. X seems to be doing several updates
in frontbuffer before doing dirtyfb ioctl.

Fix this by sending single update on every invalidate callback.

Ville Syrjälä 3cf0507625 drm/i915/bios: Split VBT data into per-panel vs. global parts
Move the panel specific VBT parsing to happen during the
output probing stage. Needs to be done because the VBT
parsing will need to look at the EDID to determine
the correct panel_type on some machines.

We split the parsed VBT data (i915->vbt) along the same
boundary. For the moment we just hoist all the panel
specific stuff into connector->panel.vbt since that seems
like the most convenient place for eg. the backlight code.

Note that we simply drop the drrs type check from
intel_drrs_frontbuffer_update() since that operates on the whole
device rather than a specific connector/encoder. But the check
was just a micro optimization so removing it doesn't actually
mattter for correctness.

TODO: Lot's of cleanup to be done in the future. Eg. most of
the DSI stuff could probably be eliminated entirely and just
parsed on demand during DSI init.

Jouni Högander 057a6a1936 drm/i915/psr: Use full update In case of area calculation fails
Currently we have some corner cases where area calculation fails. For
these sel fetch area calculation ends up having update area as y1 = 0,
y2 = 4. Instead of these values safer option is full update.

One of such for example is big fb with offset. We don't have usable
offset in psr2_sel_fetch_update. Currently it's open what is the
proper way to fix this corner case. Use full update for now.

v2: Commit message modified
v3: Print out debug info once when area calculation fails
v4: Use drm_info_once
v5: pipeA -> "pipe %c", pipe_name(crtc-pipe)
