Roopni Devanathan b74947b4f6 wifi: cfg80211/mac80211: Add support to get radio index
Currently, per-radio attributes are set on per-phy basis, i.e., all the
radios present in a wiphy will take attributes values sent from user. But
each radio in a wiphy can get different values from userspace based on
its requirement.

To extend support to set per-radio attributes, add support to get radio
index from userspace. Add an NL attribute - NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RADIO_INDEX,
to get user specified radio index for which attributes should be changed.
Pass this to individual drivers, so that the drivers can use this radio
index to change per-radio attributes when necessary. Currently, per-radio
attributes identified are:
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_TX_POWER_LEVEL
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_ANTENNA_TX
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_ANTENNA_RX
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RETRY_SHORT
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RETRY_LONG
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_FRAG_THRESHOLD
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_RTS_THRESHOLD
NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_COVERAGE_CLASS
NL80211_ATTR_TXQ_LIMIT
NL80211_ATTR_TXQ_MEMORY_LIMIT
NL80211_ATTR_TXQ_QUANTUM

By default, the radio index is set to -1. This means the attribute should
be treated as a global configuration. If the user has not specified any
index, then the radio index passed to individual drivers would be -1. This
would indicate that the attribute applies to all radios in that wiphy.

Johannes Berg 88b67e91e2 wifi: mac80211: call rate_control_rate_update() for link STA
In order to update the right link information, call the update
rate_control_rate_update() with the right link_sta, and then
pass that through to the driver's sta_rc_update() method. The
software rate control still doesn't support it, but that'll be
skipped by not having a rate control ref.

Since it now operates on a link sta, rename the driver method.

Russell King (Oracle) bb8edd900f wifi: wlcore: add pn16 support
TI Wl18xx firmware adds a "pn16" field for AES and TKIP keys as per
their patch:

https://git.ti.com/cgit/wilink8-wlan/build-utilites/tree/patches/kernel_patches/4.19.38/0023-wlcore-Fixing-PN-drift-on-encrypted-link-after-recov.patch?h=r8.9&id=a2ee50aa5190ed3b334373d6cd09b1bff56ffcf7

Add support for this, but rather than requiring the field to be
present (which would break existing firmwares), make it optional.

Russell King (Oracle) 14f89946b6 wifi: wlcore: fix wlcore AP mode
Using wl183x devices in AP mode with various firmwares is not stable.

The driver currently adds a station to firmware with basic rates when it
is first known to the stack using the CMD_ADD_PEER command. Once the
station has finished authorising, another CMD_ADD_PEER command is issued
to update the firmware with the rates the station can use.

However, after a random amount of time, the firmware ignores the power
management nullfunc frames from the station, and tries to send packets
while the station is asleep, resulting in lots of retries dropping down
in rate due to no response. This restricts the available bandwidth.

With this happening with several stations, the user visible effect is
the latency of interactive connections increases significantly, packets
get dropped, and in general the WiFi connections become unreliable and
unstable.

Eventually, the firmware transmit queue appears to get stuck - with
packets and blocks allocated that never clear.

TI have a couple of patches that address this, but they touch the
mac80211 core to disable NL80211_FEATURE_FULL_AP_CLIENT_STATE for *all*
wireless drivers, which has the effect of not adding the station to the
stack until later when the rates are known. This is a sledge hammer
approach to solving the problem.

The solution implemented here has the same effect, but without
impacting all drivers.

We delay adding the station to firmware until it has been authorised
in the driver, and correspondingly remove the station when unwinding
from authorised state. Adding the station to firmware allocates a hlid,
which will now happen later than the driver expects. Therefore, we need
to track when this happens so that we transmit using the correct hlid.

This patch is an equivalent fix to these two patches in TI's
wilink8-wlan repository:

https://git.ti.com/cgit/wilink8-wlan/build-utilites/tree/patches/kernel_patches/4.19.38/0004-mac80211-patch.patch?h=r8.9&id=a2ee50aa5190ed3b334373d6cd09b1bff56ffcf7

Johannes Berg 6092077ad0 wifi: mac80211: introduce 'channel request'
For channel contexts, mac80211 currently uses the cfg80211
chandef struct (control channel, center freq(s), width) to
define towards drivers and internally how these behave. In
fact, there are _two_ such structs used, where the min_def
can reduce bandwidth according to the stations connected.

Unfortunately, with EHT this is longer be sufficient, at
least not for all hardware. EHT requires that non-AP STAs
that are connected to an AP with a lower bandwidth than it
(the AP) advertises (e.g. 160 MHz STA connected to 320 MHz
AP) still be able to receive downlink OFDMA and respond to
trigger frames for uplink OFDMA that specify the position
and bandwidth for the non-AP STA relative to the channel
the AP is using. Therefore, they need to be aware of this,
and at least for some hardware (e.g. Intel) this awareness
is in the hardware. As a result, use of the "same" channel
may need to be split over two channel contexts where they
differ by the AP being used.

As a first step, introduce a concept of a channel request
('chanreq') for each interface, to control the context it
requests. This step does nothing but reorganise the code,
so that later the AP's chandef can be added to the request
in order to handle the EHT case described above.

Justin Stitt 3f791c60cc wifi: wlcore: main: replace deprecated strncpy with strscpy
strncpy() is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings
[1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string

We expect fw_version strings to be NUL-terminated based on other similar
assignments:

wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmsmac/main.c
7867:           snprintf(wlc->wiphy->fw_version,
7868:                    sizeof(wlc->wiphy->fw_version), "%u.%u", rev, patch);

wireless/broadcom/b43legacy/main.c
1765:   snprintf(wiphy->fw_version, sizeof(wiphy->fw_version), "%u.%u",

wireless/broadcom/b43/main.c
2730:   snprintf(wiphy->fw_version, sizeof(wiphy->fw_version), "%u.%u",

wireless/intel/iwlwifi/dvm/main.c
1465:   snprintf(priv->hw->wiphy->fw_version,
1466:            sizeof(priv->hw->wiphy->fw_version),

wireless/intel/ipw2x00/ipw2100.c
5905:   snprintf(info->fw_version, sizeof(info->fw_version), "%s:%d:%s",

Based on this, NUL-padding is not required.

A suitable replacement is `strscpy` [2] due to the fact that it
guarantees NUL-termination on the destination buffer without
unnecessarily NUL-padding.

Uwe Kleine-König f009280128 wifi: wlcore: Convert to platform remove callback returning void
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored
and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a
quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this
quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns
void.

wlcore_remove() returned zero unconditionally. With that converted to
return void instead, the wl12xx and wl18xx driver can be converted to
.remove_new trivially.

All mac80211 driver are now converted to use internal TX queues, this
might cause some regressions so we wanted to do this early in the
cycle.

Note: wireless tree was merged[1] to wireless-next to avoid some
conflicts with mac80211 patches between the trees. Unfortunately there
are still two smaller conflicts in net/mac80211/util.c which Stephen
also reported[2]. In the first conflict initialise scratch_len to
"params->scratch_len ?: 3 * params->len" (note number 3, not 2!) and
in the second conflict take the version which uses elems->scratch_pos.

Jason A. Donenfeld a251c17aa5 treewide: use get_random_u32() when possible
The prandom_u32() function has been a deprecated inline wrapper around
get_random_u32() for several releases now, and compiles down to the
exact same code. Replace the deprecated wrapper with a direct call to
the real function. The same also applies to get_random_int(), which is
just a wrapper around get_random_u32(). This was done as a basic find
and replace.

Sriram R 046d2e7c50 mac80211: prepare sta handling for MLO support
Currently in mac80211 each STA object is represented
using sta_info datastructure with the associated
STA specific information and drivers access ieee80211_sta
part of it.

With MLO (Multi Link Operation) support being added
in 802.11be standard, though the association is logically
with a single Multi Link capable STA, at the physical level
communication can happen via different advertised
links (uniquely identified by Channel, operating class,
BSSID) and hence the need to handle multiple link
STA parameters within a composite sta_info object
called the MLD STA. The different link STA part of
MLD STA are identified using the link address which can
be same or different as the MLD STA address and unique
link id based on the link vif.

To support extension of such a model, the sta_info
datastructure is modified to hold multiple link STA
objects with link specific params currently within
sta_info moved to this new structure. Similarly this is
done for ieee80211_sta as well which will be accessed
within mac80211 as well as by drivers, hence trivial
driver changes are expected to support this.

For current non MLO supported drivers, only one link STA
is present and link information is accessed via 'deflink'
member.

For MLO drivers, we still need to define the APIs etc. to
get the correct link ID and access the correct part of
the station info.

Currently in mac80211, all link STA info are accessed directly
via deflink. These will be updated to access via link pointers
indexed by link id with MLO support patches, with link id
being 0 for non MLO supported cases.

Except for couple of macro related changes, below spatch takes
care of updating mac80211 and driver code to access to the
link STA info via deflink.

  @ieee80211_sta@
  struct ieee80211_sta *s;

Tony Lindgren cb88d01b67 wlcore: Fix command execute failure 19 for wl12xx
We can currently get a "command execute failure 19" error on beacon loss

(wl12xx_cmd_role_start_sta [wlcore])
(wl1271_op_bss_info_changed [wlcore])
(ieee80211_prep_connection [mac80211])

Error 19 is defined as CMD_STATUS_WRONG_NESTING from the wlcore firmware,
and seems to mean that the firmware no longer wants to see the quirk
handling for WLCORE_QUIRK_START_STA_FAILS done.

This quirk got added with commit 18eab43070 ("wlcore: workaround
start_sta problem in wl12xx fw"), and it seems that this already got fixed
in the firmware long time ago back in 2012 as wl18xx never had this quirk
in place to start with.

As we no longer even support firmware that early, to me it seems that it's
safe to just drop WLCORE_QUIRK_START_STA_FAILS to fix the error. Looks
like earlier firmware got disabled back in 2013 with commit 0e284c074e
("wl12xx: increase minimum singlerole firmware version required").

If it turns out we still need WLCORE_QUIRK_START_STA_FAILS with any
firmware that the driver works with, we can simply revert this patch and
add extra checks for firmware version used.

With this fix wlcore reconnects properly after a beacon loss.

Tony Lindgren 35fba0f0fd wlcore: Use spin_trylock in wlcore_irq() to see if we need to queue tx
We currently have a collection of flags and locking between the
threaded irq and tx work:

- wl->flags bitops
- wl->mutex
- wl->wl_lock spinlock

The bitops flags do not need a spinlock around them, and we only need
the spinlock to see if we need to queue tx work or not. And wlcore_irq()
holds the mutex.

To simplify the locking, we can use spin_trylock and always queue tx
work unless we know there's nothing to do.

Let's also update the comment a bit while at it.

Tony Lindgren f0325e38ab wlcore: Use spin_trylock in wlcore_irq_locked() for running the queue
We currently have a collection of flags and locking between the
threaded irq and tx work:

- wl->flags bitops
- wl->mutex
- wl->wl_lock spinlock

The bitops flags do not need a spinlock around them, and
wlcore_irq() already holds the mutex calling wlcore_irq_locked().
And we only need the spinlock to see if we need to run the queue
or not.

To simplify the locking, we can use spin_trylock and always run the
tx queue unless we know there's nothing to do.

Tony Lindgren eb215c33f3 wlcore: Simplify runtime resume ELP path
We can simplify the runtime resume ELP path by always setting and
clearing the completion in runtime resume. This way we can test for
WL1271_FLAG_IRQ_RUNNING after the resume write to see if we need
completion at all.

And in wlcore_irq(), we need to take spinlock for running the
completion and for the pm_wakeup_event(). Spinlock is not needed
around the bitops flags check for WL1271_FLAG_SUSPENDED so the
spinlocked sections get shorter.

When wlcore_fw_status() returns an error code, a pairing
runtime PM usage counter decrement is needed to keep the

Johannes Berg e2e5729109 wlcore: remove stray plus sign
The commit mentioned below added a stray plus sign, likely
due to some conflict resolution (i.e. as a leftover from a
unified diff), which was harmless since it was just used as
an integer constant modifier. Remove it anyway, now that I
stumbled across it.
