Claudiu Beznea a714e27ea8 net: macb: fix the restore of cmp registers
Commit a14d273ba1 ("net: macb: restore cmp registers on resume path")
introduces the restore of CMP registers on resume path. In case the IP
doesn't support type 2 screeners (zero on DCFG8 register) the
struct macb::rx_fs_list::list is not initialized and thus the
list_for_each_entry(item, &bp->rx_fs_list.list, list) loop introduced in
commit a14d273ba1 ("net: macb: restore cmp registers on resume path")
will access an uninitialized list leading to crash. Thus, initialize
the struct macb::rx_fs_list::list without taking into account if the
IP supports type 2 screeners or not.

Michael Walle 83216e3988 of: net: pass the dst buffer to of_get_mac_address()
of_get_mac_address() returns a "const void*" pointer to a MAC address.
Lately, support to fetch the MAC address by an NVMEM provider was added.
But this will only work with platform devices. It will not work with
PCI devices (e.g. of an integrated root complex) and esp. not with DSA
ports.

There is an of_* variant of the nvmem binding which works without
devices. The returned data of a nvmem_cell_read() has to be freed after
use. On the other hand the return of_get_mac_address() points to some
static data without a lifetime. The trick for now, was to allocate a
device resource managed buffer which is then returned. This will only
work if we have an actual device.

Change it, so that the caller of of_get_mac_address() has to supply a
buffer where the MAC address is written to. Unfortunately, this will
touch all drivers which use the of_get_mac_address().

Usually the code looks like:

This can then be simply rewritten as:

  of_get_mac_address(np, ndev->dev_addr);

Sometimes is_valid_ether_addr() is used to test the MAC address.
of_get_mac_address() already makes sure, it just returns a valid MAC
address. Thus we can just test its return code. But we have to be
careful if there are still other sources for the MAC address before the
of_get_mac_address(). In this case we have to keep the
is_valid_ether_addr() call.

The following coccinelle patch was used to convert common cases to the
new style. Afterwards, I've manually gone over the drivers and fixed the
return code variable: either used a new one or if one was already
available use that. Mansour Moufid, thanks for that coccinelle patch!

Michael Tretter a04be4b6b5 net: macb: simplify clk_init with dev_err_probe
On some platforms, e.g., the ZynqMP, devm_clk_get can return
-EPROBE_DEFER if the clock controller, which is implemented in firmware,
has not been probed yet.

As clk_init is only called during probe, use dev_err_probe to simplify
the error message and hide it for -EPROBE_DEFER.

Robert Hancock e276e5e40e net: macb: Disable PCS auto-negotiation for SGMII fixed-link mode
When using a fixed-link configuration in SGMII mode, it's not really
sensible to have auto-negotiation enabled since the link settings are
fixed by definition. In other configurations, such as an SGMII
connection to a PHY, it should generally be enabled.

Robert Hancock 8fab174b78 net: macb: poll for fixed link state in SGMII mode
When using a fixed-link configuration with GEM in SGMII mode, such as
for a chip-to-chip interconnect, the link state was always showing as
established regardless of the actual connectivity state. We can monitor
the pcs_link_state bit in the Network Status register to determine
whether the PCS link state is actually up.

Charles Keepax 1d0d561ad1 net: macb: Correct usage of MACB_CAPS_CLK_HW_CHG flag
A new flag MACB_CAPS_CLK_HW_CHG was added and all callers of
macb_set_tx_clk were gated on the presence of this flag.

However the flag was not added to anything other than the new
sama7g5_gem, turning that function call into a no op for all other
systems. This breaks the networking on Zynq.

The commit message adding this states: a new capability so that
macb_set_tx_clock() to not be called for IPs having this
capability

This strongly implies that present of the flag was intended to skip
the function not absence of the flag. Update the if statement to
this effect, which repairs the existing users.

Willy Tarreau 1d608d2e0d Revert "macb: support the two tx descriptors on at91rm9200"
This reverts commit 0a4e9ce17b.

The code was developed and tested on an MSC313E SoC, which seems to be
half-way between the AT91RM9200 and the AT91SAM9260 in that it supports
both the 2-descriptors mode and a Tx ring.

It turns out that after the code was merged I could notice that the
controller would sometimes lock up, and only when dealing with sustained
bidirectional transfers, in which case it would report a Tx overrun
condition right after having reported being ready, and will stop sending
even after the status is cleared (a down/up cycle fixes it though).

After adding lots of traces I couldn't spot a sequence pattern allowing
to predict that this situation would happen. The chip comes with no
documentation and other bits are often reported with no conclusive
pattern either.

It is possible that my change is wrong just like it is possible that
the controller on the chip is bogus or at least unpredictable based on
existing docs from other chips. I do not have an RM9200 at hand to test
at the moment and a few tests run on a more recent 9G20 indicate that
this code path cannot be used there to test the code on a 3rd platform.

Since the MSC313E works fine in the single-descriptor mode, and that
people using the old RM9200 very likely favor stability over performance,
better revert this patch until we can test it on the original platform
this part of the driver was written for. Note that the reverted patch
was actually tested on MSC313E.

Claudiu Beznea daafa1d33c net: macb: add capability to not set the clock rate
SAMA7G5's ethernet IPs TX clock could be provided by its generic clock or
by the external clock provided by the PHY. The internal IP logic divides
properly this clock depending on the link speed. The patch adds a new
capability so that macb_set_tx_clock() to not be called for IPs having
this capability (the clock rate, in case of generic clock, is set at the
boot time via device tree and the driver only enables it).

The solution was to force nonlinear buffers to be cloned.  This was previously
reported by Klaus Doth (https://www.spinics.net/lists/netdev/msg556937.html)
but never formally submitted as a patch.

This is the third revision, hopefully the formatting is correct this time!

Parshuram Thombare e4e143e26c net: macb: add support for high speed interface
This patch adds support for 10GBASE-R interface to the linux driver for
Cadence's ethernet controller.
This controller has separate MAC's and PCS'es for low and high speed paths.
High speed PCS supports 100M, 1G, 2.5G, 5G and 10G through rate adaptation
implementation. However, since it doesn't support auto negotiation, linux
driver is modified to support 10GBASE-R instead of USXGMII.

Willy Tarreau 0a4e9ce17b macb: support the two tx descriptors on at91rm9200
The at91rm9200 variant used by a few chips including the MSC313 supports
two Tx descriptors (one frame being serialized and another one queued).
However the driver only implemented a single one, which adds a dead time
after each transfer to receive and process the interrupt and wake the
queue up, preventing from reaching line rate.

This patch implements a very basic 2-deep queue to address this limitation.
The tests run on a Breadbee board equipped with an MSC313E show that at
1 GHz, HTTP traffic on medium-sized objects (45kB) was limited to exactly
50 Mbps before this patch, and jumped to 76 Mbps with this patch. And tests
on a single TCP stream with an MTU of 576 jump from 10kpps to 15kpps. With
1500 byte packets it's now possible to reach line rate versus 75 Mbps
before.

Willy Tarreau 73d7422813 macb: prepare at91 to use a 2-frame TX queue
The RM9200 supports one frame being sent while another one is waiting in
queue. This avoids the dead time that follows the emission of a frame
and which prevents one from reaching line speed.

Right now the driver supports only a single skb, so we'll first replace
the rm9200-specific skb info with an array of two macb_tx_skb (already
used by other drivers). This patch only moves the skb_length to
txq[0].size and skb_physaddr to skb[0].mapping but doesn't perform any
other change. It already uses [desc] in order to minimize future changes.

As part of the W=1 cleanups for ethernet, a million [*] driver
comments had to be cleaned up to get the W=1 compilation to
succeed. This change finally makes the drivers/net/ethernet tree
compile with W=1 set on the command line. NOTE: The kernel uses
kdoc style (see Documentation/process/kernel-doc.rst) when
documenting code, not doxygen or other styles.

After this patch the x86_64 build has no warnings from W=1, however
scripts/kernel-doc says there are 1545 more warnings in source files, that
I need to develop a script to fix in a followup patch.

The errors fixed here are all kdoc of a few classes, with a few outliers:

Stefan Roese f7ba7dbf4f net: macb: Properly handle phylink on at91sam9x
I just recently noticed that ethernet does not work anymore since v5.5
on the GARDENA smart Gateway, which is based on the AT91SAM9G25.
Debugging showed that the "GEM bits" in the NCFGR register are now
unconditionally accessed, which is incorrect for the !macb_is_gem()
case.

This patch adds the macb_is_gem() checks back to the code
(in macb_mac_config() & macb_mac_link_up()), so that the GEM register
bits are not accessed in this case any more.

The UDP reuseport conflict was a little bit tricky.

The net-next code, via bpf-next, extracted the reuseport handling
into a helper so that the BPF sk lookup code could invoke it.

At the same time, the logic for reuseport handling of unconnected
sockets changed via commit efc6b6f6c3
which changed the logic to carry on the reuseport result into the
rest of the lookup loop if we do not return immediately.

This requires moving the reuseport_has_conns() logic into the callers.

While we are here, get rid of inline directives as they do not belong
in foo.c files.

The other changes were cases of more straightforward overlapping
modifications.

Nicolas Ferre 558e35ccfe net: macb: WoL support for GEM type of Ethernet controller
Adapt the Wake-on-Lan feature to the Cadence GEM Ethernet controller.
This controller has different register layout and cannot be handled by
previous code.
We disable completely interrupts on all the queues but the queue 0.
Handling of WoL interrupt is done in another interrupt handler
positioned depending on the controller version used, just between
suspend() and resume() calls.
It allows to lower pressure on the generic interrupt hot path by
removing the need to handle 2 tests for each IRQ: the first figuring out
the controller revision, the second for actually knowing if the WoL bit
is set.

Alexandre Belloni 2ccb0161a0 net: macb: use phy_interface_mode_is_rgmii everywhere
There is one RGMII check not using the phy_interface_mode_is_rgmii()
helper. This prevents the driver from configuring the MAC properly when
using a phy-mode that is not just rgmii, e.g. rgmii-rxid. This became an
issue on sama5d3 xplained since the ksz9031 driver is hadling phy-mode
properly and the phy-mode has to be set to rgmii-rxid.

phylink_ethtool_get_wol() is not enough to figure out if Ethernet driver

phylink_ethtool_set_wol() return value is considered and determines
if the MAC has to handle WoL or not. The case where the PHY doesn't
implement WoL leads to the MAC configuring it to provide this feature.

Nicolas Ferre ced4799d06 net: macb: mark device wake capable when "magic-packet" property present
Change the way the "magic-packet" DT property is handled in the
macb_probe() function, matching DT binding documentation.
Now we mark the device as "wakeup capable" instead of calling the
device_init_wakeup() function that would enable the wakeup source.

For Ethernet WoL, enabling the wakeup_source is done by
using ethtool and associated macb_set_wol() function that
already calls device_set_wakeup_enable() for this purpose.

That would reduce power consumption by cutting more clocks if
"magic-packet" property is set but WoL is not configured by ethtool.

Along with changes for freeing the DMA buffers the enable/disable
interrupt instructions were moved to at91ether_start()/at91ether_stop()

their reverse order (compared with how is done in at91ether_start()):
before this patch the operation order on interface open path
was as follows:
1/ alloc DMA buffers
2/ enable tx, rx
3/ enable interrupts
and the order on interface close path was as follows:
1/ disable tx, rx
2/ disable interrupts
3/ free dma buffers.

Alexandre Belloni ac2fcfa9fd net: macb: Properly handle phylink on at91rm9200
at91ether_init was handling the phy mode and speed but since the switch to
phylink, the NCFGR register got overwritten by macb_mac_config(). The issue
is that the RM9200_RMII bit and the MACB_CLK_DIV32 field are cleared
but never restored as they conflict with the PAE, GBE and PCSSEL bits.

Add new capability to differentiate between EMAC and the other versions of
the IP and use it to set and avoid clearing the relevant bits.

Also, this fixes a NULL pointer dereference in macb_mac_link_up as the EMAC
doesn't use any rings/bufffers/queues.

Harini Katakam f822e9c4ff net: macb: Limit maximum GEM TX length in TSO
GEM_MAX_TX_LEN currently resolves to 0x3FF8 for any IP version supporting
TSO with full 14bits of length field in payload descriptor. But an IP
errata causes false amba_error (bit 6 of ISR) when length in payload
descriptors is specified above 16387. The error occurs because the DMA
falsely concludes that there is not enough space in SRAM for incoming
payload. These errors were observed continuously under stress of large
packets using iperf on a version where SRAM was 16K for each queue. This
errata will be documented shortly and affects all versions since TSO
functionality was added. Hence limit the max length to 0x3FC0 (rounded).

reflect the same. Also remove dead code checking for protocol
TCP when calculating header length.

Stephen Boyd d89091a493 macb: Don't unregister clks unconditionally
The only clk init function in this driver that register a clk is
fu540_c000_clk_init(), and thus we need to unregister the clk when this
driver is removed on that platform. Other init functions, for example
macb_clk_init(), don't register clks and therefore we shouldn't
unregister the clks when this driver is removed. Convert this
registration path to devm so it gets auto-unregistered when this driver
is removed and drop the clk_unregister() calls in driver remove (and
error paths) so that we don't erroneously remove a clk from the system
that isn't registered by this driver.

Otherwise we get strange crashes with a use-after-free when the
devm_clk_get() call in macb_clk_init() calls clk_put() on a clk pointer
that has become invalid because it is freed in clk_unregister().

Antoine Tenart ef8a2e2728 net: macb: fix probing of PHY not described in the dt
This patch fixes the case where the PHY isn't described in the device
tree. This is due to the way the MDIO bus is registered in the driver:
whether the PHY is described in the device tree or not, the bus is
registered through of_mdiobus_register. The function masks all the PHYs
and only allow probing the ones described in the device tree. Prior to
the Phylink conversion this was also done but later on in the driver
the MDIO bus was manually scanned to circumvent the fact that the PHY
wasn't described.

This patch fixes it in a proper way, by registering the MDIO bus based
on if the PHY attached to a given interface is described in the device
tree or not.

Rename the mac_link_state() method to mac_pcs_get_state() to make it
clear that it should be returning the MACs PCS current state, which
is used for inband negotiation rather than just reading back what the
MAC has been configured for. Update the documentation to explicitly
mention that this is for inband.

We drop the return value as well; most of phylink doesn't check the
return value and it is not clear what it should do on error - instead
arrange for state->link to be false.

This patch converts the MACB Ethernet driver to the Phylink framework.
The MAC configuration is moved to the Phylink ops and Phylink helpers
are now used in the ethtools functions. This helps to access the flow

Andrew Lunn 0c65b2b90d net: of_get_phy_mode: Change API to solve int/unit warnings
Before this change of_get_phy_mode() returned an enum,
phy_interface_t. On error, -ENODEV etc, is returned. If the result of
the function is stored in a variable of type phy_interface_t, and the
compiler has decided to represent this as an unsigned int, comparision
with -ENODEV etc, is a signed vs unsigned comparision.

Fix this problem by changing the API. Make the function return an
error, or 0 on success, and pass a pointer, of type phy_interface_t,
where the phy mode should be stored.

Michael Tretter bd310aca44 macb: propagate errors when getting optional clocks
The tx_clk, rx_clk, and tsu_clk are optional. Currently the macb driver
marks clock as not available if it receives an error when trying to get
a clock. This is wrong, because a clock controller might return
-EPROBE_DEFER if a clock is not available, but will eventually become
available.

In these cases, the driver would probe successfully but will never be
able to adjust the clocks, because the clocks were not available during
probe, but became available later.

For example, the clock controller for the ZynqMP is implemented in the
PMU firmware and the clocks are only available after the firmware driver
has been probed.

Use devm_clk_get_optional() in instead of devm_clk_get() to get the
optional clock and propagate all errors to the calling function.

block on the FU540, and manages many of the boundary signals from the

SAMA5D2 SoC has a suspend mode where SoC's power is cut off. Due to this
the registers content is lost after a suspend/resume cycle. The current
suspend/resume implementation covers some of these registers. However
there are few which were not treated (e.g. SCRT2 and USRIO). Apart
from this, netdev features are not restored. Treat these issues.

Current order in open:
-> Enable interrupts (macb_init_hw)
-> Enable NAPI
-> Start PHY

Sequence of RX handling:
-> RX interrupt occurs
-> Interrupt is cleared and interrupt bits disabled in handler
-> NAPI is scheduled
-> In NAPI, RX budget is processed and RX interrupts are re-enabled

With the above, on QEMU or fixed link setups (where PHY state doesn't
matter), there's a chance macb RX interrupt occurs before NAPI is
enabled. This will result in NAPI being scheduled before it is enabled.
Fix this macb open by changing the order.

Nicolas Ferre 8b95274784 net: macb: shrink macb_platform_data structure
This structure was used intensively for machine specific values
when DT was not used. Since the removal of AVR32 from the kernel,
this structure is only used for passing clocks from PCI macb wrapper, all
other fields being 0.
All other known platforms use DT.

Remove the leftovers but make sure that PCI macb still works as
expected by using default values:
- phydev->irq is set to PHY_POLL by mdiobus_alloc()
- mii_bus->phy_mask is cleared while allocating it
- bp->phy_interface is set to PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_MII if mode not found
in DT.

This simplifies driver probe path and particularly phy handling.

negative error but just a NULL clock structure instead. In such a case
the driver proceeds as usual and uses pclk value 0 to calculate MDC
divisor which is incorrect. Hence fix the same in clock initialization.

Harini Katakam de991c58b3 net: macb: Add support for suspend/resume with full power down
When macb device is suspended and system is powered down, the clocks
are removed and hence macb should be closed gracefully and restored
upon resume. This patch does the same by switching off the net device,
suspending phy and performing necessary cleanup of interrupts and BDs.
Upon resume, all these are reinitialized again.

Reset of macb device is done only when GEM is not a wake device.
Even when gem is a wake device, tx queues can be stopped and ptp device
can be closed (tsu clock will be disabled in pm_runtime_suspend) as
wake event detection has no dependency on this.

Christoph Hellwig 564923e4c0 macb_main: pass struct device to DMA API functions
The DMA API generally relies on a struct device to work properly, and
only barely works without one for legacy reasons.  Pass the easily
