Felix Kuehling f45e6b9d03 drm/amdkfd: Remove legacy code not acquiring VMs
ROCm user mode has acquired VMs from DRM file descriptors for as long
as it supported the upstream KFD. Legacy code to support older versions
of ROCm is not needed any more.

Alex Sierra 6ae2784114 drm/amdgpu: replace per_device_list by array
Remove per_device_list from kfd_process and replace it with a
kfd_process_device pointers array of MAX_GPU_INSTANCES size. This helps
to manage the kfd_process_devices binded to a specific kfd_process.
Also, functions used by kfd_chardev to iterate over the list were
removed, since they are not valid anymore. Instead, it was replaced by a
local loop iterating the array.

Felix Kuehling 172e4ee233 drm/amdkfd: Cleanup kfd_process if init_cwsr_apu fails
If init_cwsr_apu fails, we currently leave the kfd_process structure in
place anyway. The next kfd_open will then succeed, using the existing
kfd_process structure. Fix that by cleaning up the kfd_process after a
failure in init_cwsr_apu.

 "Not a major amount of change, the i915 trees got split into display

Mukul Joshi 59d7115dae drm/amdkfd: Move process doorbell allocation into kfd device
Move doorbell allocation for a process into kfd device and
allocate doorbell space in each PDD during process creation.
Currently, KFD manages its own doorbell space but for some
devices, amdgpu would allocate the complete doorbell
space instead of leaving a chunk of doorbell space for KFD to
manage. In a system with mix of such devices, KFD would need
to request process doorbell space based on the type of device,
either from amdgpu or from its own doorbell space.

Fenghua Yu c7b6bac9c7 drm, iommu: Change type of pasid to u32
PASID is defined as a few different types in iommu including "int",
"u32", and "unsigned int". To be consistent and to match with uapi
definitions, define PASID and its variations (e.g. max PASID) as "u32".
"u32" is also shorter and a little more explicit than "unsigned int".

No PASID type change in uapi although it defines PASID as __u64 in

Dennis Li df9c8d1aa2 drm/amdgpu: fix system hang issue during GPU reset
when GPU hang, driver has multi-paths to enter amdgpu_device_gpu_recover,
the atomic adev->in_gpu_reset and hive->in_reset are used to avoid
re-entering GPU recovery.

During GPU reset and resume, it is unsafe that other threads access GPU,
which maybe cause GPU reset failed. Therefore the new rw_semaphore
adev->reset_sem is introduced, which protect GPU from being accessed by
external threads during recovery.

v2:
1. add rwlock for some ioctls, debugfs and file-close function.
2. change to use dqm->is_resetting and dqm_lock for protection in kfd
driver.
3. remove try_lock and change adev->in_gpu_reset as atomic, to avoid
re-enter GPU recovery for the same GPU hang.

v3:
1. change back to use adev->reset_sem to protect kfd callback
functions, because dqm_lock couldn't protect all codes, for example:
free_mqd must be called outside of dqm_lock;

This commit fixes the warning by ensuring get_user() is not called
while reading SDMA stats with dqm_lock held as get_user() could cause a
page fault which leads to the circular locking scenario.

Joseph Greathouse b8020b0304 drm/amdkfd: Enable over-subscription with >1 GWS queue
The current GWS usage model will only allows a single GWS-enabled
process to be active on the GPU at once. This ensures that a
barrier-using kernel gets a known amount of GPU hardware, to
prevent deadlock due to inability to go beyond the GWS barrier.

The HWS watches how many GWS entries are assigned to each process,
and goes into over-subscription mode when two processes need more
than the 64 that are available. The current KFD method for working
with this is to allocate all 64 GWS entries to each GWS-capable
process.

When more than one GWS-enabled process is in the runlist, we must
make sure the runlist is in over-subscription mode, so that the
HWS gets a chained RUN_LIST packet and continues scheduling
kernels.

ALLOC_MEM_FLAGS_* used are the same as the KFD_IOC_ALLOC_MEM_FLAGS_*,
but they are interweavedly used in kernel driver, resulting in bad

Replace all occurrences of ALLOC_MEM_FLAGS_* with

Rajneesh Bhardwaj 9593f4d6a6 drm/amdkfd: refactor runtime pm for baco
So far the kfd driver implemented same routines for runtime and system
wide suspend and resume (s2idle or mem). During system wide suspend the
kfd aquires an atomic lock that prevents any more user processes to
create queues and interact with kfd driver and amd gpu. This mechanism
created problem when amdgpu device is runtime suspended with BACO
enabled. Any application that relies on kfd driver fails to load because
the driver reports a locked kfd device since gpu is runtime suspended.

However, in an ideal case, when gpu is runtime suspended the kfd driver
should be able to:

 - auto resume amdgpu driver whenever a client requests compute service
 - prevent runtime suspend for amdgpu while kfd is in use

This change refactors the amdgpu and amdkfd drivers to support BACO and
runtime power management.

Jason Gunthorpe 0029cab314 drm/amdkfd: fix a use after free race with mmu_notifer unregister
When using mmu_notifer_unregister_no_release() the caller must ensure
there is a SRCU synchronize before the mn memory is freed, otherwise use
after free races are possible, for instance:

     CPU0                                      CPU1
                                      invalidate_range_start
                                         hlist_for_each_entry_rcu(..)
 mmu_notifier_unregister_no_release(&p->mn)
 kfree(mn)
                                      if (mn->ops->invalidate_range_end)

The error unwind in amdkfd misses the SRCU synchronization.

amdkfd keeps the kfd_process around until the mm is released, so split the
flow to fully initialize the kfd_process and register it for find_process,
and with the notifier. Past this point the kfd_process does not need to be
cleaned up as it is fully ready.

The final failable step does a vm_mmap() and does not seem to impact the
kfd_process global state. Since it also cannot be undone (and already has
problems with undo if it internally fails), it has to be last.

This way we don't have to try to unwind the mmu_notifier_register() and
avoid the problem with the SRCU.

Along the way this also fixes various other error unwind bugs in the flow.

Yong Zhao 733fa1f742 drm/amdkfd: Fix suspend/resume issue on Carrizo v2
When we do suspend/resume through "sudo pm-suspend" while there is
HSA activity running, upon resume we will encounter HWS hanging, which
is caused by memory read/write failures. The root cause is that when
suspend, we neglected to unbind pasid from kfd device.

Another major change is that the bind/unbinding is changed to be
performed on a per process basis, instead of whether there are queues
in dqm.

v2:
- free IOMMU device if kfd_bind_processes_to_device fails in kfd_resume
- add comments to kfd_bind/unbind_processes_to/from_device
- minor cleanups

Don't print vendor and device ID in error messages. They are typically
the same for all GPUs in a multi-GPU system. So this doesn't add any

We are going to split <linux/sched/mm.h> out of <linux/sched.h>, which

Create a trivial placeholder <linux/sched/mm.h> file that just
maps to <linux/sched.h> to make this patch obviously correct and

The APIs that are going to be moved first are:

   mm_alloc()
   __mmdrop()
   mmdrop()
   mmdrop_async_fn()
   mmdrop_async()
   mmget_not_zero()
   mmput()

Bhaktipriya Shridhar fd320bf692 drm/amdkfd: Remove create_workqueue()
alloc_workqueue replaces deprecated create_workqueue().

create_workqueue has been replaced with alloc_workqueue with max_active
as 0 since there is no need for throttling the number of active work items.

WQ_MEM_RECLAIM has not been set to because kfd_process_wq will not be
used in memory reclaim path.

kfd_process_wq is used for delay destruction. A work item embedded in
kfd_process gets queued to kfd_process_wq and when it executes it
destroys and frees the containing kfd_process and thus itself.

This requires a dedicated workqueue because a work item once queued, may
get freed at any point of time and any external entity cannot
flush the work item. So, in order to wait for such a work item,
it needs to be put on a dedicated workqueue.

kfd_module_exit() calls kfd_process_destroy_wq which ensures that all
pending work items are finished before the module is removed.

flush_workqueue is unnecessary since destroy_workqueue() itself calls
drain_workqueue() which flushes repeatedly till the workqueue
becomes empty.

Hence flush_workqueue has been removed.

Oded Gabbay 121b78e679 drm/amdkfd: unbind only existing processes
When unbinding a process from a device (initiated by amd_iommu_v2), the
driver needs to make sure that process still exists in the process table.
There is a possibility that amdkfd's own notifier handler -
kfd_process_notifier_release() - was called before the unbind function
and it already removed the process from the process table.

v2:
Because there can be only one process with the specified pasid, and
because *p can't be NULL inside the hash_for_each_rcu macro, it is more
reasonable to just put the whole code inside the if statement that
compares the pasid value. That way, when we exit hash_for_each_rcu, we
simply exit the function as well.

amdkfd wants to know syscall type, not task type. Check directly.
