Imre Deak cc2ee76a90 drm/i915: Move encoder suspend/shutdown helpers to intel_encoder.c
Move the encoder suspend/shutdown helpers to intel_encoder.c, this being
the logical place for encoder functions.

This also allows sharing the above helpers with the xe driver, done in a
follow-up patch.

While at it rename the functions using the usual intel_encoder prefix
and in the functions rename the dev_priv parameter to i915.

v2: Remove extra w/s in the include section. (Jani)

UAPI Changes:

- drm/i915/guc: Use context hints for GT frequency

Allow user to provide a low latency context hint. When set, KMD
sends a hint to GuC which results in special handling for this
context. SLPC will ramp the GT frequency aggressively every time
it switches to this context. The down freq threshold will also be
lower so GuC will ramp down the GT freq for this context more slowly.
We also disable waitboost for this context as that will interfere with
    the strategy.

We need to enable the use of SLPC Compute strategy during init, but
it will apply only to contexts that set this bit during context
    creation.

Userland can check whether this feature is supported using a new param-
I915_PARAM_HAS_CONTEXT_FREQ_HINT. This flag is true for all guc submission
enabled platforms as they use SLPC for frequency management.

The Mesa usage model for this flag is here -
    https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/sushmave/mesa/-/commits/compute_hint

- drm/i915/gt: Enable only one CCS for compute workload

Enable only one CCS engine by default with all the compute sices
    allocated to it.

While generating the list of UABI engines to be exposed to the
user, exclude any additional CCS engines beyond the first
    instance

    ***

NOTE: This W/A will make all DG2 SKUs appear like single CCS SKUs by
default to mitigate a hardware bug. All the EUs will still remain
usable, and all the userspace drivers have been confirmed to be able
to dynamically detect the change in number of CCS engines and adjust.

For the smaller percent of applications that get perf benefit from
letting the userspace driver dispatch across all 4 CCS engines we will
be introducing a sysfs control as a later patch to choose 4 CCS each
with 25% EUs (or 50% if 2 CCS).

NOTE: A regression has been reported at

    https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/i915/kernel/-/issues/10895

However Andi has been triaging the issue and we're closing in a fix

Thomas Zimmermann 762f8c13b8 drm/{i915,xe}: Implement fbdev client callbacks
Move code from ad-hoc fbdev callbacks into DRM client functions
and remove the old callbacks. The functions instruct the client
to poll for changed output or restore the display.

The DRM core calls both, the old callbacks and the new client
helpers, from the same places. The new functions perform the same
operation as before, so there's no change in functionality.

Fox xe, remove xe_display_last_close(), which restored the fbdev
display. As with i915, the DRM core's drm_lastclose() performs
this operation automatically.

Imre Deak bd738d859e drm/i915: Prevent modesets during driver init/shutdown
An unexpected modeset or connector detection by a user (user space or FB
console) during the initialization/shutdown sequence is possible either
via a hotplug IRQ handling work or via the connector sysfs
(status/detect) interface. These modesets/detections should be prevented
by disabling/flushing all related hotplug handling work and
unregistering the interfaces that can start them at the beginning of the
shutdown sequence. Some of this - disabling all related intel_hotplug
work - will be done by the next patch, but others - for instance
disabling the MST hotplug works - require a bigger rework.

It makes sense - for diagnostic purpose, even with all the above work and
interface disabled - to detect and reject any such user access. This
patch does that for modeset accesses and a follow-up patch for connector
detection.

During driver loading/unloading/system suspend/shutdown and during
system resume after calling intel_display_driver_disable_user_access()
or intel_display_driver_resume_access() correspondigly, the current
thread is allowed to modeset (as this thread requires to do an
initial/restoring modeset or a disabling modeset), other threads (the
user threads) are not allowed to modeset.

During driver loading/system resume after calling
intel_display_driver_enable_user_access() all threads are allowed to
modeset.

During driver unloading/system suspend/shutdown after calling
intel_display_driver_suspend_access() no threads are allowed to modeset
(as the HW got disabled and should stay in this state).

v2: Call intel_display_driver_suspend_access()/resume_access() only
    for HAS_DISPLAY(). (CI)
v3: (Jouni)
- Add commit log comments explaining how the permission of modeset
changes during HW init/deinit wrt. to the current and other user

Suspend the FB console during driver shutdown the same way this is done
during system resume. This should prevent any HPD event to trigger a new

A preceding FB HPD event handling may be still pending, resulting in a

Imre Deak 24b412b1bf drm/i915: Disable intel HPD poll after DRM poll init/enable
The only purpose of intel_hpd_poll_disable() during driver loading and
system resume - at which point polling should be disabled anyway, except
for connectors in an IRQ storm, for which the polling will stay enabled -
is to force-detect all the connectors. However this detection in
i915_hpd_poll_init_work() depends on drm.mode_config.poll_enabled, which
will get set in drm_kms_helper_poll_init(), possibly after
i915_hpd_poll_init_work() is scheduled. Hence the initial detection of
connectors during driver loading may not happen.

Fix the above by moving intel_hpd_poll_disable() after
i915_hpd_poll_init_work(), the proper place anyway for doing the above
detection after all the HW initialization steps are complete. Change the
order the same way during system resume as well. The above race
condition shouldn't matter here - as drm.mode_config.poll_enabled will
be set - but the detection should happen here as well after the HW init
steps are done.

Matt Roper 12e6f6dc78 drm/i915/display: Handle GMD_ID identification in display code
For platforms with GMD_ID support (i.e., everything MTL and beyond),
identification of the display IP present should be based on the contents
of the GMD_ID register rather than a PCI devid match.

Note that since GMD_ID readout requires access to the PCI BAR, a slight
change to the driver init sequence is needed --- pci_enable_device() is
now called before i915_driver_create().

v2:
 - Fix use of uninitialized i915 pointer in error path if
pci_enable_device() fails before the i915 device is created. (lkp)
 - Use drm_device parameter to intel_display_device_probe. This goes
against i915 conventions, but since the primary goal here is to make
it easy to call this function from other drivers (like Xe) and since
we don't need anything from the i915 structure, this seems like an
exception where drm_device is a more natural fit.
v3:
 - Go back do drm_i915_private for intel_display_device_probe. (Jani)
 - Move forward decl to top of header. (Jani)

Imre Deak b61fad5f7e drm/i915/tc: Call TypeC port flush_work/cleanup without modeset locks held
Call the TypeC port flush_work and cleanup handlers without the modeset
locks held. These don't require the locks, as the work takes - as it
should be able to at any point in time - any locks it needs and by the
time cleanup is called and after cleanup returns the encoder is not in
use.

This is required by the next patch canceling a TypeC port work
synchronously during encoder suspend and shutdown, where the work can
take modeset locks as well, hence the canceling must be done without
holding the locks.

I also considered moving the modeset locking down to each encoder
suspend()/shutdown() hook instead, however locking the full modeset
state for each encoder separately would be odd, and the bigger change -
affecting all encoders - is beyond the scope of this patchset.

v2:

Jani Nikula 446a20c9ba drm/i915: hide mkwrite_device_info() better
The goal has been to just make device info a pointer to static const
data, i.e. the static const structs in i915_pci.c. See [1]. However,
there were issues with intel_device_info_runtime_init() clearing the
display sub-struct of device info on the !HAS_DISPLAY() path, which
consequently disables a lot of display functionality, like it
should. Looks like we'd have to cover all those paths, and maybe
sprinkle HAS_DISPLAY() checks in them, which we haven't gotten around
to.

In the mean time, hide mkwrite_device_info() better within
intel_device_info.c by adding a intel_device_info_driver_create() for
the very early initialization of the device info and initial runtime
info. This also lets us declutter i915_drv.h a bit, and stops promoting
mkwrite_device_info() as something that could be used.

Jani Nikula 893a6c224a drm/i915/pm: drop intel_suspend_hw()
All intel_suspend_hw() does is clear PCH_LP_PARTITION_LEVEL_DISABLE bit
in SOUTH_DSPCLK_GATE_D for LPT LP. intel_suspend_hw() gets called from
i915_drm_suspend().

However, i915_drm_suspend_late() calls
intel_display_power_suspend_late(), which in turn calls hsw_enable_pc8()
on HSW and BDW. The first thing that does is clear
PCH_LP_PARTITION_LEVEL_DISABLE bit in SOUTH_DSPCLK_GATE_D.

Remove the duplicated clearing of the bit, effectively delaying it from
i915_drm_suspend() to i915_drm_suspend_late(), and remove the
unnecessary intel_suspend_hw() function altogether.

Merge v6.2-rc6 into drm-next

Due to holidays we started -next with more -fixes in-flight than
usual, and people have been asking where they are. Backmerge to get
things better in sync.

Conflicts:
- Tiny conflict in drm_fbdev_generic.c between variable rename and
missing error handling that got added.
- Conflict in drm_fb_helper.c between the added call to vgaswitcheroo
in drm_fb_helper_single_fb_probe and a refactor patch that extracted
lots of helpers and incidentally removed the dev local variable.
Readd it to make things compile.

Alan Previn 24efe424f0 drm/i915/pxp: Pxp hw init should be in resume_complete
During suspend flow, i915 currently achors' on the pm_suspend_prepare
callback as the location where we quiesce the entire GPU and perform
all necessary cleanup in order to go into suspend. PXP is also called
during this time to perform the arbitration session teardown (with
the assurance no additional GEM IOCTLs will come after that could
restart the session).

However, if other devices or drivers fail their suspend_prepare, the
system will not go into suspend and i915 will be expected to resume
operation. In this case, we need to re-initialize the PXP hardware
and this really should be done within the pm_resume_complete callback
which is the correct opposing function in the resume sequence to
match pm_suspend_prepare of the suspend sequence.

Because this callback is the last thing at the end of resuming
we expect little to no impact to the rest of the i915 resume sequence
with this change.

Thomas Zimmermann a273e95721 drm/i915: Allow switching away via vga-switcheroo if uninitialized
Always allow switching away via vga-switcheroo if the display is
uninitalized. Instead prevent switching to i915 if the device has
not been initialized.

This issue was introduced by commit 5df7bd1308 ("drm/i915: skip
display initialization when there is no display") protected, which
protects code paths from being executed on uninitialized devices.
In the case of vga-switcheroo, we want to allow a switch away from
i915's device. So run vga_switcheroo_process_delayed_switch() and
test in the switcheroo callbacks if the i915 device is available.

Alan Previn f67986b011 drm/i915/pxp: Promote pxp subsystem to top-level of i915
Starting with MTL, there will be two GT-tiles, a render and media
tile. PXP as a service for supporting workloads with protected
contexts and protected buffers can be subscribed by process
workloads on any tile. However, depending on the platform,
only one of the tiles is used for control events pertaining to PXP
operation (such as creating the arbitration session and session
tear-down).

PXP as a global feature is accessible via batch buffer instructions
on any engine/tile and the coherency across tiles is handled implicitly
by the HW. In fact, for the foreseeable future, we are expecting this
single-control-tile for the PXP subsystem.

In MTL, it's the standalone media tile (not the root tile) because
it contains the VDBOX and KCR engine (among the assets PXP relies on
for those events).

Looking at the current code design, each tile is represented by the
intel_gt structure while the intel_pxp structure currently hangs off the
intel_gt structure.

Keeping the intel_pxp structure within the intel_gt structure makes some
internal functionalities more straight forward but adds code complexity to
code readability and maintainibility to many external-to-pxp subsystems
which may need to pick the correct intel_gt structure. An example of this
would be the intel_pxp_is_active or intel_pxp_is_enabled functionality
which should be viewed as a global level inquiry, not a per-gt inquiry.

That said, this series promotes the intel_pxp structure into the
drm_i915_private structure making it a top-level subsystem and the PXP
subsystem will select the control gt internally and keep a pointer to
it for internal reference.

This promotion comes with two noteworthy changes:

1. Exported pxp functions that are called by external subsystems
(such as intel_pxp_enabled/active) will have to check implicitly
if i915->pxp is valid as that structure will not be allocated
for HW that doesn't support PXP.

2. Since GT is now considered a soft-dependency of PXP we are
ensuring that GT init happens before PXP init and vice versa
for fini. This causes a minor ordering change whereby we previously
called intel_pxp_suspend after intel_uc_suspend but now is before
i915_gem_suspend_late but the change is required for correct
dependency flows. Additionally, this re-order change doesn't
have any impact because at that point in either case, the top level
entry to i915 won't observe any PXP events (since the GPU was
quiesced during suspend_prepare). Also, any PXP event doesn't
really matter when we disable the PXP HW (global GT irqs are
already off anyway, so even if there was a bug that generated
spurious events we wouldn't see it and we would just clean it
up on resume which is okay since the default fallback action
for PXP would be to keep the sessions off at this suspend stage).

Changes from prior revs:
  v11: - Reformat a comment (Tvrtko).
v10: - Change the code flow for intel_pxp_init to make it more
cleaner and readible with better comments explaining the
difference between full-PXP-feature vs the partial-teelink
inits depending on the platform. Additionally, only do
the pxp allocation when we are certain the subsystem is
         needed. (Tvrtko).
   v9: - Cosmetic cleanups in supported/enabled/active. (Daniele).
       - Add comments for intel_pxp_init and pxp_get_ctrl_gt that
explain the functional flow for when PXP is not supported
but the backend-assets are needed for HuC authentication
         (Daniele and Tvrtko).
       - Fix two remaining functions that are accessible outside
PXP that need to be checking pxp ptrs before using them:
         intel_pxp_irq_handler and intel_pxp_huc_load_and_auth
         (Tvrtko and Daniele).
       - User helper macro in pxp-debugfs (Tvrtko).
   v8: - Remove pxp_to_gt macro (Daniele).
       - Fix a bug in pxp_get_ctrl_gt for the case of MTL and we don't
         support GSC-FW on it. (Daniele).
       - Leave i915->pxp as NULL if we dont support PXP and in line
with that, do additional validity check on i915->pxp for
         intel_pxp_is_supported/enabled/active (Daniele).
       - Remove unncessary include header from intel_gt_debugfs.c
         and check drm_minor i915->drm.primary (Daniele).
       - Other cosmetics / minor issues / more comments on suspend
         flow order change (Daniele).
   v7: - Drop i915_dev_to_pxp and in intel_pxp_init use 'i915->pxp'
through out instead of local variable newpxp. (Rodrigo)
       - In the case intel_pxp_fini is called during driver unload but
after i915 loading failed without pxp being allocated, check
         i915->pxp before referencing it. (Alan)
v6: - Remove HAS_PXP macro and replace it with intel_pxp_is_supported
because : [1] introduction of 'ctrl_gt' means we correct this
for MTL's upcoming series now. [2] Also, this has little impact
globally as its only used by PXP-internal callers at the moment.
       - Change intel_pxp_init/fini to take in i915 as its input to avoid
         ptr-to-ptr in init/fini calls.(Jani).
       - Remove the backpointer from pxp->i915 since we can use
pxp->ctrl_gt->i915 if we need it. (Rodrigo).
v5: - Switch from series to single patch (Rodrigo).
       - change function name from pxp_get_kcr_owner_gt to
         pxp_get_ctrl_gt.
       - Fix CI BAT failure by removing redundant call to intel_pxp_fini
         from driver-remove.
       - NOTE: remaining open still persists on using ptr-to-ptr
         and back-ptr.
v4: - Instead of maintaining intel_pxp as an intel_gt structure member
and creating a number of convoluted helpers that takes in i915 as
input and redirects to the correct intel_gt or takes any intel_gt
and internally replaces with the correct intel_gt, promote it to
         be a top-level i915 structure.
v3: - Rename gt level helper functions to "intel_pxp_is_enabled/
         supported/ active_on_gt" (Daniele)
       - Upgrade _gt_supports_pxp to replace what was intel_gtpxp_is
supported as the new intel_pxp_is_supported_on_gt to check for
PXP feature support vs the tee support for huc authentication.
Fix pxp-debugfs-registration to use only the former to decide
         support. (Daniele)
       - Couple minor optimizations.
v2: - Avoid introduction of new device info or gt variables and use
existing checks / macros to differentiate the correct GT->PXP
         control ownership (Daniele Ceraolo Spurio)
       - Don't reuse the updated global-checkers for per-GT callers (such
as other files within PXP) to avoid unnecessary GT-reparsing,
expose a replacement helper like the prior ones. (Daniele).
v1: - Add one more patch to the series for the intel_pxp suspend/resume
         for similar refactoring

the GGTT address space to be shared between media and render GT. As a
result any updates in GGTT shall invalidate TLB of GTs sharing it and
similarly any operation on GGTT requiring an action on a GT will have to

Aravind Iddamsetty ee71434eeb drm/i915/mtl: Handle wopcm per-GT and limit calculations.
With MTL standalone media architecture the wopcm layout has changed,
with separate partitioning in WOPCM for the root GT GuC and the media
GT GuC. The size of WOPCM is 4MB with the lower 2MB reserved for the
media GT and the upper 2MB for the root GT.

Given that MTL has GuC deprivilege, the WOPCM registers are pre-locked
by the bios. Therefore, we can skip all the math for the partitioning
and just limit ourselves to sanity-checking the values.

Imre Deak 89cb0ba4ce drm/i915/tgl+: Add locking around DKL PHY register accesses
Accessing the TypeC DKL PHY registers during modeset-commit,
-verification, DP link-retraining and AUX power well toggling is racy
due to these code paths being concurrent and the PHY register bank
selection register (HIP_INDEX_REG) being shared between PHY instances
(aka TC ports) and the bank selection being not atomic wrt. the actual
PHY register access.

Add the required locking around each PHY register bank selection->
register access sequence.

Kudos to Ville for noticing the race conditions.

v2:
- Add the DKL PHY register accessors to intel_dkl_phy.[ch]. (Jani)
- Make the DKL_REG_TC_PORT macro independent of PHY internals.
- Move initing the DKL PHY lock to a more logical place.

v3:
- Fix parameter reuse in the DKL_REG_TC_PORT definition.
- Document the usage of phy_lock.

v4:
- Fix adding TC_PORT_1 offset in the DKL_REG_TC_PORT definition.

Ville Syrjälä f38f614fa9 drm/i915: Do the DRIVER_ATOMIC feature disable later
Currently we do the DRIVER_ATOMIC disable as almost the
first thing during pci probe. That involves the use of
DISPLAY_VER() which is perhaps a bit sketchy now that we
may need to read that out from the hardware itself.
Looks like we do populate a default value for it anyway
so the current does at least still work.

But let's make this safer anyway and move the code
into intel_device_info_runtime_init() where we also
handle the same thing for the !HAS_DISPLAY case.

Matt Roper c2c7075225 drm/i915: Read graphics/media/display arch version from hw
Going forward, the hardware teams no longer consider new platforms to
have a "generation" in the way we've defined it for past platforms.
Instead, each IP block (graphics, media, display) will have their own
architecture major.minor versions and stepping ID's which should be read
directly from a register in the MMIO space.

Bspec: 63361, 64111

  - Move the IP version readout to intel_device_info.c
  - Convert the macro into a function

v3:
  - Move subplatform init to runtime early init

This, along with the changes already landed in commit 1c66a12ab4

To accomplish this we need to sprinkle a lot of for_each_gt calls around
