We don't write out attributes after disabling and re-enabling the link
on some monitors, causing some, but not all, HDMI displays to fail to
lightup on DCN314.
[How]
Firmware used to do this after DIG link setup.
Since firmware is no longer doing this to support USB4 and dynamic link
remapping we'll need to add this to driver in the equivalent paths.
New optional callbacks were created in the stream encoder interface and
implementations were added for DCN314.

[Why]
With single display odm 2:1 policy, when moving windowed MPO across
the display, we experience a momentary lag when we move between the
centre of the display and the right half of the display. This is
caused by the MPO pipe being reallocated when it crosses this
boundary
[How]
Handle two cases:
1. if the head pipe has a MPO pipe already allocated in the old
context, then use that pipe if it is available in the current
context
2. if the head pipe is on the left side, check the right side to
see if it has a MPO pipe already allocated. If so, don't use
that pipe if it is selected as the idle pipe in the current
context
Add new function pointer called .acquire_idle_pipe_for_head_pipe
that will pass in the head pipe and handle case 1
Add find_idle_secondary_pipe_check_mpo() to handle case 2
if we don't hit case 1.
In dc_add_plane_to_context(), start with head pipe and check
case 1 and 2 in call acquire_free_pipe_for_head().
If we are on the right side of the display, check case 1
again by passing in right side pipe as the new head in
call acquire_free_pipe_for_head().

Ideally link capability should be independent from the link
configuration that we decide to use in enable link. Otherwise if link
capability is changed after validation has completed, we could end up
enabling a link configuration with invalid configuration. This would
lead to over link bandwidth subscription or in the extreme case
causes us to enable HPO link to a DIO stream.
[how]
Add a new struct in pipe ctx called link config. This structure will
contain link configuration to enable a link. It will be populated
during map pool resources after we validate link bandwidth. Remove
the reference of verified link cap during enable link process and
use link config in pipe ctx instead.

[Why]
While applying a state to hardware, there is a transition period where
the back-end is reset using the old state; then enabled using the new
state.
Generally, the link encoder configuration module queries
stream-to-encoder assignments in either the new or old state based on a
mode variable. During the transition there is a need to query both
states, however toggling this mode variable can lead to incorrect
programming of encoders.
[How]
- Add new function to explicity query stream-to-encoder assignment
in the current state rather than intermittently switch the mode
of operation of the link encoder assignment module.
- Add additional checks for encoder assignment defects.
- Explicitly reset the mode of operation if application of state
to hardware ends prematurely.

Most of the time, a single display uses the ODM combine. When using
multi-display, we use ODM combine only if it is necessary. These cases
are not flexible enough for us, and we can improve them to take
advantage of our hardware. We want to have more control over the ODM
policy.
[How]
This commit add a new debug flag named
enable_single_display_2to1_odm_policy to control the ODM policy and
another flag named enable_dp_dig_pixel_rate_div_policy to fine control
the ODM combine. This is possible by adding a new "pipe.dest" parameter
that can be set to ODM 2:1 combined if we use a single display. For
dynamic ODM combine, when using DP-DIG, DCN applies K2=2 settings for
ODM combine. Note that this feature affects the following registers:
- timing.pix_clk_100khz -> DP_VID_M, DP_VID_N
- requested_pix_clk_100hz -> DP_DTOn_PHASE
- OTGn_PIXEL_RATE_DIVK2
- DP_PIXEL_PER_CYCLE_PROCESSING_MODE

[Why]
PSR-SU Rate Control - or PSR-SU-RC - enables PSR-SU panels to work with
variable refresh rate to allow for more power savings. Lowering the
refresh rate can increase PSR residency by expanding the eDP main link
shut down duration. It can also lower panel power consumption.
There is a complication with PSR, since the eDP main link can be shut
down. Therefore, the timing controller (TCON) on the eDP sink nees to be
able to scan out its remote buffer independent of the main link. To
allow the eDP source to specify the sink's refresh rate while the link
is off, vendor-specific DPCD registers are used. This allows the eDP
source to then "Rate Control" the panel during PSR active.
[How]
Add DC support to communicate with PSR-SU-RC supported eDP sinks. The
sink will need to know the desired VTotal during PSR active.
This change only adds support to DC, support in amdgpu_dm is still
pending to enable this fully.

[why]
1. When HPD deassertion is pulled in the middle of
enabe stream link training, we will abort current training
and turn off PHY. This causes current link settings
to be zeroed this causes later stream enablement
sequence to fail as we prefer to carry on enablement
process despite of link training failure for SST.
2. When HPD is toggled after detection before before
the enable stream sequence as a result. There could be
a race condition where we could end up enable stream based
on the previous link even though the link is updated
after the HPD toggle. This causes an issue where our link
bandwidth is no longer enough to accommodate the timing
therefore causes us to oversubscribe MST payload time
slots. As discussed we decided to add basic sanity check
to make sure that our code can handle the oversubscription
failure silently without system hang.
[how]
1. Keep PHY powered on when HPD is deasserted during
enable stream and wait for the detection sequence to power
it off later.
2. Do not allocate payload if the required timeslot for
current timing is greater than 64 timeslots.

Very low rate to cause memory access issue while resetting

The process of stopping fw of DMCUB may be timeout, that means
it is not in idle state, such as the window frames may still be

When enabling an HPO stream for the first time after having previously
enabled a DIO stream there may be lingering DIO FIFO errors even though
the DIO is no longer enabled.
These can cause display clock change to hang if we don't apply the
OTG disable workaround since the ramping logic is tied to OTG on.
[How]
The workaround wasn't being applied in the sequence of:
1 DIO stream
0 streams
1 HPO stream
because current_state has no stream or planes in its context - and
it's only swapped after optimize has finished.
We should be using the incoming context instead to determine whether
this logic is needed or not.

When we enter FREESYNC_STATE_VIDEO, we want to use the extra vblank
portion to enter zstate if possible.
[how]
When we enter freesync, a full update is triggered and the new vtotal
with extra lines is passed to dml in a stream update. The time gained
from extra vblank lines is calculated in microseconds. We allow zstate
entry if the time gained is greater than 5 ms, which is the current
policy. Furthermore, an optimized value for min_dst_y_next_start is
calculated and written to its register. When exiting freesync, another
full update is triggered and default values are restored.

[Why]
The issue only occurs during the GPU reset code path.
We first backup the current state prior to commiting 0 streams
internally from DM to DC. This state backup contains valid link
encoder assignments.
DC will clear the link encoder assignments as part of current state
(but not the backup, since it was a copied before the commit) and
free the extra stream reference it held.
DC requires that the link encoder assignments remain cleared/invalid
prior to commiting. Since the backup still has valid assignments we
call the interface post reset to clear them. This routine also
releases the extra reference that the link encoder interface held -
resulting in a double free (and eventually a NULL pointer dereference).
[How]
We'll have to do a full DC commit anyway after GPU reset because
the stream count previously went to 0.
We don't need to retain the assignment that we had backed up, so
just copy off of the now clean current state assignment after the
reset has occcurred with the new link_enc_cfg_copy() interface.

dc_link_detect_helper has multiple purpose:
1. Detect link and local sink.
2. Verify link capability by performing detection link training.
3. Start mst topology discovery and if succeeded fails the current interface.
This is difficult to maintain as item 2 has become more destructive to current
dc state. The change is to decouple these sequences to its own functions.
Eventually only item 2 is a destructive method and we will redesign this
sequence with a more unified policy across different encoder types.

[why]
1. Current code hard codes link to PHY mapping in dc link level per asic
per revision.
This is not scalable. In long term the mapping will be obatined from
DMUB and store in dc resource.
2. Depending on DCN revision and endpoint type, the definition of
dio_output_idx dio_output_type and phy_idx are not consistent. We need
to unify the meaning of these hardware indices across different system
configuration.
[how]
1. Temporarly move the hardcoded mapping to dc_resource level, which
should have full awareness of asic specific configuration and add a TODO
comment to move the mapping to DMUB.
2. populate dio_output_idx/phy_idx for all configuration, define
usb4_enabled bit instead of dio_output_type as an external enum.

There will be a series of re-arch changes in Link Resource Management.
They are more and more muxable link resource objects and the resource is
insufficient for a one to one allocation to all links created.
Therefore a link resource sharing logic is required to determine which
link should use certain link resource.
This commit is the first one in this series that starts by defining a
link resource struct, this struct will be available to all interfaces
that need to perform link programming sequence.
In later commits, we will granduately decouple link resource objects out
of dc link. So instead of access a link resource from dc link. Current
link's resource can be accessible through pipe_ctx->link_res during
commit, or by calling dc_link_get_cur_link_res function with current
link passed in after commit.

When rapidly plugging and unplugging a DP sink, detection link
training can be mistakenly skipped.
This is due to the hotplug processing occurring before the

detection link training is skipped.

Incorrect encoder assignments were being used while applying a new state
to hardware.
(1) When committing a new state to hardware requires resetting the

used when disabling the back-end; and the encoder assignments for the
next or new state should be used when re-enabling the back-end.

- transient encoder assignments to use during this state transition.

[Why]
Trying to enable multiple displays simultaneously exposed shortcomings
with the algorithm for dynamic link encoder assignment.
The main problems were:
- Assuming stream order remained constant across states would sometimes
lead to invalid DIG encoder assignment.
- Incorrect logic for deciding whether or not a DIG could support a
stream would also sometimes lead to invalid DIG encoder assignment.
- Changes in encoder assignment were wholesale while updating of the
pipe backend is incremental. This would lead to the hardware state not
matching the software state even with valid encoder assignments.
[How]
The following changes fix the identified problems.
- Use stream pointer rather than stream index to track streams across
states.
- Fix DIG compatibility check by examining the link signal type rather
than the stream signal type.
- Modify assignment algorithm to make incremental updates so software
and hardware states remain coherent.
Additionally:
- Add assertions and an encoder assignment validation function
link_enc_cfg_validate() to detect potential problems with encoder
assignment closer to their root cause.
- Reduce the frequency with which the assignment algorithm is executed.
It should not be necessary for fast state validation.

dcn_bw_calc_rq_dlg_ttu uses a stack frame great than 1024. To solve this
we could allocate the rq_param, dlg_sys_param, and input structs
dynamically. Since this function is inside a kernel_fpu_begin()/end()
call we want to avoid memory allocation. Instead it's much
safer to pre-allocate these on the pipe_ctx.

Some DPCD addresses, notably LTTPR Capability registers, are expected to
be read all together in a single DPCD transaction. Rather than force callers to
read registers they don't need, we want to quietly extend the addresses
read, and only return back the values the caller asked for.
This does not affect DPCD writes.
[HOW]
Create an additional layer above AUX to perform 'checked' DPCD
transactions.
Iterate through an array of DPCD address ranges that are marked as being
contiguous. If a requested read falls within one of those ranges, extend
the read to include the entire range.
After DPCD has been queried, copy the requested bytes into the caller's
data buffer, and deallocate all resources used.

Conditions that end up modifying the global dc state must be locked.
However, during mst allocate payload sequence, lock is already taken.
With StarTech 1.2 DP hub, we get an HPD RX interrupt for a reason other
than to indicate down reply availability right after sending payload
allocation. The handler again takes dc lock before calling the
dc's HPD RX handler. Due to this contention, the DRM thread which waits
for MST down reply never gets a chance to finish its waiting
successfully and ends up timing out. Once the lock is released, the hpd
rx handler fires and goes ahead to read from the MST HUB, but now its
too late and the HUB doesnt lightup all displays since DRM lacks error
handling when payload allocation fails.
[How]
Take lock only if there is a change in link status or if automated test
pattern bit is set. The latter fixes the null pointer dereference when

There is a bug in HW that causes P-State to hang when DPG is enabled in
certain conditions.
[HOW]
The solution is to force MIN_TTU_VBLANK register to maximum value
whenever DPG has been enabled.
Make stream do a full update on test pattern change, so that the TTUs
get updated.
When DPG is enabled, update the ttu_regs.min_ttu_vblank field of each
pipe in the stream's topology to the maximum value (0xffffff).

[WHY]
To process AUX transactions with DMUB using inbox1 and outbox1 mail boxes.
[HOW]
1) Added inbox1 command DMUB_CMD__DP_AUX_ACCESS to issue AUX commands
to DMUB in dc_process_dmub_aux_transfer_async(). DMUB processes AUX cmd
with DCN and sends reply back in an outbox1 message triggering an
outbox1 interrupt to driver.
2) In existing driver implementation, AUX commands are processed
synchronously by configuring DCN reg. But in DMUB AUX, driver sends an
inbox1 message and waits for a conditional variable (CV) which will be
signaled by outbox1 ISR.
3) As the driver holds dal and dc locks while waiting for CV, the outbox1
ISR is registered with noMutexWait set to true, which allows ISR to run
and signal CV. This sets a constraint on ISR to not modify variables
such as dc, dmub, etc.
4) Created dmub_outbox.c with dmub_enable_outbox_notification() to enable
outbox1 mailbox.
5) New mailbox address ranges allocated for outbox1 of size DMUB_RB_SIZE.
Created dmub functions for Outbox1: dmub_dcn20_setup_out_mailbox(),
dmub_dcn20_get_outbox1_wptr() and dmub_dcn20_set_outbox1_rptr().
6) Added functions dc_stat_get_dmub_notification() and
dmub_srv_stat_get_notification() to retrieve Outbox1 message.
7) Currently, DMUB doesn't opens DDC in AUX mode before issuing AUX
transaction. A workaround is added in dce_aux_transfer_dmub_raw() to
open in DDC in AUX mode for every AUX transaction.
8) Added dc debug option enable_dmub_aux_for_legacy_ddc enable/disable
DMUB AUX. This debug option is checked dce_aux_transfer_with_retries()
to select the method to process AUX transactions.

Dummy pstate latency actually varies between different
UCLK frequencies, when calculating watermark C, if DAL
always assumes worst case, then it can lead to dummy
pstate not supported scenarios.
[how]
Rather than statically calculating dummy pstate using
worst case, we store the entire table of UCLK to dummy
pstate relationships. On a per mode basis, we calculate
the actual UCLK lower limit, and use the dynamic worst
case dummy pstate latency. This prevents the situation
where we don't support full p-state (which will force
high DPM), but still use low DPM dummy pstate latency.

[Why]
We dropped the delay after changed the cursor functions locking the
entire pipe to locking just the CURSOR registers to fix page flip
stuttering - this introduced cursor stuttering instead, and an underflow
issue.
The cursor update can be delayed indefinitely if the cursor update
repeatedly happens right around VUPDATE.
The underflow issue can happen if we do a viewport update on a pipe
on the same frame where a cursor update happens around VUPDATE - the
old cursor registers are retained which can be in an invalid position.
This can cause a pipe hang and indefinite underflow.
[How]
The complex, ideal solution to the problem would be a software
triple buffering mechanism from the DM layer to program only one cursor
update per frame just before VUPDATE.
The simple workaround until we have that infrastructure in place is
this change - bring back the delay until VUPDATE before locking, but
with some corrections to the calculations.
This didn't work for all timings before because the calculation for
VUPDATE was wrong - it was using the offset from VSTARTUP instead and
didn't correctly handle the case where VUPDATE could be in the back
porch.
Add a new hardware sequencer function to use the existing helper to
calculate the real VUPDATE start and VUPDATE end - VUPDATE can last
multiple lines after all.
Change the udelay to incorporate the width of VUPDATE as well.

training when the 48mhz refclk is off, which
will cause ASIC hang.

[Why]
To compare the crc of the framebuffer data at input of
display pipeline with the crc of the otg, we need to
disable pixel formatter's dynamic expansion feature during
crc capture and keep it enable in the normal operation.
[HOW]
Expose a new interface in DM and dc for pixel formatter
(fmt dynamic bitdepth expansion control). Interface control
the FMT_DYNAMIC_EXP_EN bit, during crc capture keep
it disabled.

We need to update the hdcp display parameter whenever the link is
updated, so the next time there is an update to hdcp we have the
latest display info
[How]
Create a callback, and use this anytime there is a change in the link. This will
be used later by the dm.

This change was made because DTO programming was double-buffered, which
is itself an issue. After deactivating the DTO double buffer, this

Edid Utility wishes to include DSC module from driver instead
of doing it's own logic which will need to be updated every time
someone modifies the driver logic.
[How]
Modify some functions such that we dont need to pass the entire
DC structure as parameter.
-Remove DC inclusion from module.
-Filter out problematic types and inclusions

[Why]
When user mode use i2c over aux through ADL or DDI, the function
dal_ddc_service_query_ddc_data will be called. There are two issues.
1. When read/write length > 16byte, current always return false because
the DEFAULT_AUX_MAX_DATA_SIZE != length.
2. When usermode only need to read data through i2c, driver will write
mot = true at the same address and cause i2c sink confused. Therefore
the following read command will get garbage.
[How]
1. Add function dal_dcc_submit_aux_command to handle length > 16 byte.
2. Check read size and write size when query ddc data.
